James McCollum, plaintiff, McCollum v. Board of Education, 1948 will speak at the January meeting of Americans United West Suburban Chicago Chapter. Come hear the story of this landmark case from the perspective of the elementary student who grew up to be a lawyer. This case reinterpreted the First Amendment to apply to the States and not just the Federal Government and is the basis of First Amendment rulings for the last half century. The McCollum family sacrificed economic and personal security to protect the separation of church and state. Please join us to hear this harrowing account.

Coffee will be served at 7, followed by the talk at 7:30.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, or to RSVP, please send an e-mail to: wscchapter@aol.com
