First Freedom First Video Contest!
FIRST FREEDOM FIRST VIDEO CONTEST INFORMATION
If you have a burning desire to share your view about safeguarding separation of church and state, and protecting religious liberty, now is your chance!
If evolution v. creationism, taxpayer funded school vouchers or the 'faith-based' initiatives is your hot-button issue -- now is your chance to share your view with others through video!
First Freedom First, a petition and education campaign, is working to bring these important issues to the forefront of our national debate. Our message is actually quite simple: keep government and religion separate. It is as straightforward as it is important, and with your help we can share this important message with others.
First Freedom First supports:
- No Religious Discrimination
- End of Life Care
- Reproductive Health
- Democracy not Theocracy
- Academic Integrity
- Sound Science
- Respect for all Families
- Worship... or Not
These are fundamental rights of all Americans, and yet unfortunately they are endangered by those wishing to impose their narrow religious perspectives on everyone. If you feel passionately about any or all of these issues, or if there is something in your community that you feel needs to be addressed, now is your chance to do so through video.
But hey, if you just want to use your creativity for a good cause, then enter the First Freedom First Video Contest!
Starting soon, we will be featuring a handful of user-submitted videos on our website. Think of it as a way for you to tell the world why you care about these issues.
Want yours included? Simply upload your short (no more than 10 minutes) on YouTube, or SplashCast , send us a link to the video, and we’ll feature it on our website.
How does the contest work? Encourage your friends and family to visit the First Freedom First website and vote for their favorite video (yours, of course).
If free exposure and the feeling of working for a worthwhile cause aren’t enough, the winner will also receive a $200 Amazon.com gift certificate.
Already doing something like this for a class project? Great! Send it in!
For complete contest details, please see below. Videos will be featured on an ongoing basis. To be considered for the prize, please upload your video and inform us of your entry by sending along the video URL.
KEEP CHECKING THIS PAGE FOR THE NEW CONTEST DEADLINE.
Thanks!

You will be notified if your video is selected for voting. Please only send one video per contest round. Once a winner is determined that individual is not eligible to compete in future rounds.
Note: Videos submitted will be reviewed. Your video must 1) support the issues of First Freedom First, and 2) not contain excessive foul language, violence, nudity or content we deem objectionable. In other words, keep it PG-13. We reserve the right to refuse a video submitted for consideration.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: What exactly is this? Who is doing it? What’s it for?
A: Simply put, the First Freedom First Video Contest is for anyone who feels strongly about the issues that First Freedom First supports. First Freedom First is a project of Americans United for Separation of Church and State and The Interfaith Alliance Foundation. Working together, this video contest serves as a vehicle to get the word out about these very important issues.
Q: How does the contest work?
A: Participants produce an original video no more than 10 minutes in length. You should then upload your video to YouTube.com or to SplashCast.com. Once your video is up, email Bethany@firstfreedomfirst.org with the URL for the video, along with your name, postal address, and phone number (see details in "Entering the Contest" above).
All videos will be reviewed for content (see details in "Entering the Contest" above) and accepted entries will be featured on our web site on a first-come-first-serve basis for voting by the public. We will e-mail selected entrants to let them know their video is up and available for voting. Once this is done, it is up to you to convince as many of your friends and family to come to the site and vote for your video! Visitors to the site will view the videos and then select their favorite. The video with the most votes at the end of the voting period (two weeks after the voting period begins) will win a $200 Amazon.com gift certificate!
Q: What should my video be about?
A: Your video should be about any (or all) of the issues that the First Freedom First promotes. Consider doing a skit explaining why you think public schools should teach evolution and not creationism in a science class, or a short animation about why it’s detrimental to houses of worship for government and religion to be mixed. Maybe you could do candid interviews with your friends or people around campus on what they think of government interference in personal health matters. The sky is literally the limit.
Q: Will all videos be up for voting?
A: The contest will begin when we have received and accepted an entry from at least three separate individuals. If your video is not considered in the first round of voting, there will still be a chance to compete. Depending on the number of entries, we will feature videos not previously considered in additional rounds. We reserve the right to end the contest at any time. For the best chance at being considered you are encouraged to submit your video as early as possible.
Q: Will my video be edited?
A: Videos will not be edited, but will be reviewed for content. Your video must 1) support one (or more) of the eight issues of First Freedom First, and 2) not contain excessive foul language, violence, nudity or content we deem objectionable. In other words, keep it PG-13. We reserve the right to refuse a video submitted for consideration.
Q: When do I need to send my video by? How long will the contest run?
A: If you want your video to be considered for the $200 Amazon.com gift certificate prize, you must submit your entry to us no later than (CHECK BACK LATER FOR THE DATE). Shortly thereafter, all selected entrants will be notified by email that their video is online and ready to be voted on. Voting will run for two weeks, the video that receives the most votes will be awarded the prize. Once you win, you are not eligible to win again in future rounds. Future rounds will be determined by the number of eligible videos submitted. We reserve the right to end the contest at any time.
